Headed to the West High track despite opening my garage to rain. Figured it would at least keep me cool. Turned out to be a great morning. Goal was 12x400 with 200 active recovery. I am trying to figure out my paces right now and Josh had suggested this workout to determine about what my 5k should be. So, I had a goal of 88-90 seconds for each. I have run faster 400s before, but have never done 12 and have never done only 200 active recovery and then straight into the next 400. I usually stop for about 10-15 seconds after the 200s and then start the next 400.

I was pleased with the workout and know a little bit better where I am now. Thanks to Josh for jumping in on every other 400 and for 200 on the offs.

88, 90, 88, 88, 89, 87, 88, 86, 86, 86, 80, 76 and a 32 for 200 to hit 5k.

THIS comic made me smile...hoping to never have little dracula kisses!

My fathers day gift arrived today!

Nice workout, I need to do some speed workouts also.

whirrr! nice job -- consistent all the way through. 76, 32 to finish is awesome. big 5k PR on the way.

Nice workout, I agree with Josh that you're very capable of going sub 18 right now on a flat course.

Thanks all. I appreciate it. Next official 5k will be the Murray Fun Days on the 4th of July. I know that is not flat so I will have to think about what I can handle there.

I ran a 19:25 last year and that was my first 5k.

Murray is slower than a flat course, maybe ~30 seconds compared to something like Draper Days. In any case, you're going to smash up the time you ran there last year. Nice workout.
