Worried.

I told myself I would be careful in Lake Powell and not do anything to jeopardize St. George. I stuck to that, but had a fluke fall on a ski on Saturday and bruised my ribs. My ski slipped out from under me in an odd way and I landed on my side. It really didn't seem like a big deal at all. However, my left elbow must have jammed into my side and it managed to bruise my ribs through my life jacket.

This morning's 6 miles were painful. I couldn't get my breathing in a rhythm because I couldn't take a deep breath. Hoping 12ish days is enough to heal. Any suggestions on speeding up the healing process are welcome.

It should heal up in time - just be careful with what you do and don't try to force any workouts if it hurts. Trust your training.

I pulled a muscle in my side (probably rappelling) a few weeks ago... it was a little annoying when breathing hard and painful to the touch for about 10 days, and then it gradually went away to the point where I don't even notice it much now.

Thanks Jake. I was going to just keep it easy this week and maybe do a couple of marathon paced miles on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday if I feel alright. I figure a hard workout could only do damage at this point.

Whatever fitness benefit you might get out of it - you'd lose that and more if you aggravate the ribs any further.

Like Jake said, I am guessing you are fine. Just keep the worrying to a minimum until then and stay confident and hungry.
