9.25 miles this AM. - Fun to get out with Tyler and Adam.

I felt great on this run. Nice to have an easy day after last week's miles and long run on Saturday. I still am feeling a little tight in my right lower calf from last Tuesday's speed workout I think, but it is not inhibiting my running. Those 400s really blew up my legs last week.

I need to be better about stretching!!! There is always something to work on.

A belated welcome to the blog, and excellent marathon time.

I gave up stretching a couple years ago and I've seen no problems from it. I take it slow in the beginning of runs and cool down at the end. If I'm tight, like you mentioned, I roll out that part of my legs using a foam roller. Everyone's different, but it works for me. I gave up stretching as I learned there are studies that show stretching can cause harm to distance runners but few that prove stretching helps our lot. That was enough for me. Saves me time and guilt. Happy running.

Thanks Russ. I need to get my foam roller out more. I always plan on it, but then run out of time. If I had a hot tub I would get in it nightly and then roll out my legs. I think it would be fabulous!
