Second run post marathon. Still could feel a few niggles. I am grateful to be able to take some needed time off. Both my body and mind need it. Did the typical 5 and change loop from my house. Just took it easy. Headed to Lake Powell tomorrow.

I loved this run. One of my favorite of the year for sure. This was our second day in Lake Powell. There was a light breeze in the morning and the temperature was perfect for running. I didn't know how my legs would really feel, seeing this was going to be the longest run since my marathon. I was just going to run and really enjoy it. I had no goal.

I left the houseboat and headed up the rock to what seemed like the highest point. It was a slow ascent because it was rather steep. It was roughly .8 of a mile to the top. The peak of the rock formations provided an awesome panoramic view of Lake Powell. I could see our houseboat to the south and Bullfrog marina to the North. Just east of the peak is the main plateau that you can see from Bullfrog and Halls.

I thought it would be fun to just start running the perimeter of the plateau and possibly circumnavigate it if I had the time and it wasn't too far. I was holding an easy pace and just kept pluggin along, stopping periodically to take in a view of Lake Powell I had never seen. Turns out the perimeter is almost 6 miles! On my way back down to the boat I met up with Whit carrying Grey and we walked the last .2 of a mile back.

This was a fun mid-morning hike with my folks in Lake Powell. I carried Grey in the backpack thinking she would once-again enjoy exploring. Not too long after we left I felt Grey's head relax against the back of my neck. Sure enough, she had fallen asleep and my watch read .19 of a mile. So, I headed back to the houseboat and put Grey in bed. I then ran to catch up with my folks.
