4.36 nice miles. It felt really cold this morning but somehow I was feeling really good. I kept my watch under my jacket and decided to just run based on how I was feeling. I knew my first mile was a quick one but I just got on cruise control and held a quick pace. At about mile 3 I turned a corner and fell on the black ice on to my hands and knees. Luckily I was not going fast and didn't get hurt. Knees feel better today because I spent some quality time with the foam roller last night so I am happy about that.

[update] I think a slightly pulled groin is manifesting itself now later in the day. I am pretty sure this happened when I slipped on the ice. Hopefully it is not bad and I will feel alright tomorrow morning for 5 miles with Adam. I have to remember that it could have been a worse result from today's fall.

You were cruising today! Glad the fall didn't do any damage.

Thanks man! I might have slightly pulled my groin from the fall. Oh well. Could have been a lot worse.

I had a goosey at your blog - great idea. I enjoyed the articles but left with a couple of questions:

1. Did Adam beat the 13 year old girl the following year? (I don't mean did he punch her or beat her in a cage fight, I mean did he beat her in the race?)

2. A year later when Adam returned to scene of the crime - where he was humbled by the fairer sex - was he chicked again?

Hope the groin is ok and that it doesn't hold you back.

Bam,

Great questions. I almost got chicked again the next year. Here are the full results.

As you can see, not a huge race. Still, I was thrilled how it turned out.

I've examined the results and I have a clear picture in my mind of how it all unfolded:

Bethany's running along nicely with Mr Cobler on one side and ACorn, aka The Grinning Grappler of Utah, on the other. She's about to put in a spurt, when faster than a Fast Running Blog Blogger typing up a race report, The Grinning Grappler of Utah slips her a cheeky little rabbit punch to the kidneys. Down she goes.

Mr Cobler, being 45 and a gentleman, stops to see if she's ok. Meanwhile, The Grinning Grappler of Utah sees his opportunity and strides out to steal victory.

Poor Bethnay is now wheelchair bound - you should see her these days on the icy streets of Utah. Mr Cobler has never been the same since the 'incident'. He suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and has a nervous twitch.

But The Grinning Grappler of Utah, after his victory, is now a local celebrity. Some say he's nearly as famous as The Orangina Kid, aka Jake of the high miles Krong:)

Bam,

:) It's like you witnessed the event firsthand.

Thanks, I got a good laugh out of that.
