10 on tired legs

Met Daniel at HHS and the plan was a 6 mile tempo...somewhere between 6:15 and 6:30. Once we started, I knew it was going to be a good workout. Not because I felt fast, but because my legs were still feeling Saturday and the past two days of 10 each. We ran along 1700 and worked our way south and east until 39th south and 20th east and then back. I had to work for the last two miles. My legs were screaming at me like it was the the end of a race. This workout helped me to make the necessary adjustments in stride and arm swing to endure when the legs really had nothing left. I am really pleased with the effort. I have put more miles on my legs this training cycle and I look forward to seeing how my body performs with some rest and a taper come race day.

6:28, 6:20, 6:18, 6:15, 6:23, 6:26  =  6:21.6 avg

Solid run, you are looking strong. Ogden should be good for you. Just no water skiing before.

right on target! nice job. and all the better pulling it off on tired legs.

thanks allie. it was a fight. i really want to get in a 10 mile tempo before ogden, but every time i think i should do it, my legs are already tired and i know i could not have gone another mile yesterday, let alone 4!

maybe wait until you're 1-2 weeks out to do the full 10 mile effort? your legs will probably be feeling a lot better once you get into the taper, then you can really knock it out and still have plenty of time to recover.

hille - no water skiing at ALL!

that is good advice allie. i have contemplated doing a light taper and running the salt lake half, but don't know if i will or not. if i raced that, it would certainly be a solid tempo. i just don't want to have to recover too much from that and accidentally peak too early for ogden.

Great tempo James! My legs are still feeling Saturday's joy run! So I think you should be pretty proud of yourself for getting 6 solid miles in.
