Final workout before the big dance...so to speak. 3 mile hill tempo climb up Farmington Canyon and onto the single track. 1 mile warmup, 3 mile tempo up, 3 easy down, and one flat cool down.

Felt good overall, but I am ready to start feeling even better. I look forward to fresh legs on race day.

Same as yesterday. Slightly faster. Exact same elevation, which makes sense...but surprised to see.

Nearly two hours looping the field at Churchill Jr. High. Seemed to fly by and I attribute that to the great company. Typically ~1/3rd mile loops on flat grass would not be enjoyable. Wanted soft and flat and I got it.

6 days...

Out onto the parkway and back with a little foxy loop. Nice and easy jogging with Jeff. Nice to catch up with him a bit. We were running about 3 days a week before I headed to the hills at the end of May. He is running a half on Saturday and I am excited to see how he does. He has put in a ton of work this year.

Out onto the parkway and back without foxy today.

I dreamt part of the course took me into a concentration camp and part of the race was a partial stay at that camp. My nerves are getting the best of me.

So...I wish I had more time to write this and maybe I will come back and add some thoughts.

Tomorrow is my big race for the year and one of the biggest in a few ways of my running "career." Sounds odd to call it that but I'll leave it. I am nervous and excited. So much logistical work goes into prepping for this race with drop bags etc. I am ready to just go out and do the thing I love, run! I feel like my training cycle couldn't have gone smoother. It now time to execute. Goal is to take it easy and have fun.

The tag line for the Wasatch 100 is "100 miles of Heaven and Hell." So, I guess I will see you on the other side after a day of running.

4 miles with Jeff on the parkway. Painful. That is all. Something is wrong with my knee / side of knee / IT / something. Barely made it back without walking or crying

5 miles with Jeff on the parkway. Again, painful. However, not as bad as last Thursday. The pain set in at the quarter mile mark, but didn’t ever get too much worse. Decided to turn back at 2.5 though. Had the knee area looked at by a PT last night. He moved it all about and I didn’t feel any pain. Pushing where the IT band connects caused pain. He does not believe anything is torn and said I couldn’t really hurt it by running, but it will slow the healing process. Going to just take it a day at a time.

Took the morning off. Wrapped the knee and went to work. Still not feeling great. Hopefully things start feeling better with more time off. Mowed the lawn by headlight and finished just after 8:30 PM. My IT hurt a little while mowing. The constant turning did not help things I don’t think. I decided to hop on the treadmill to test the waters. I rode for 35 minutes, the majority of which I was out of the saddle and in a harder gear. Interestingly, sitting in a normal biking position hurt my IT band a bit. Leaning forward and resting on my elbows made the pain go away. Standing and pushing it along in a harder gear (slow but steady) didn’t hurt either. Ok, I can do this for a while but man the spin bike is BORING!
