9.42 - 1,545 ft - 1:20 on feet

Did a 60 minute workout and the above data is from the entire run. The workout consisted of 10 minutes super easy warming up, 30 minutes uphill at ~80% effort, 30 minutes downhill running controlled but not cruising, and 10 minutes of cool down.

I chose Mueller Park for this workout as it has some consistent up that would be good for the 30 minutes. I have run it casually but never pushed the pace. I felt alright and am happy with my times and effort on both the up and down.

up - 3.34 miles - 1,056 ft gain - 30 min - 8:59 average
down - 4.5 miles - 1,432 ft. loss - 30 min - 6:40 average

It was by far the fastest I have come down that trail. However, I felt smooth and was in control the entire time.

nice work. i love mueller park -- a good place to do a workout like that because you can get some solid up and down running without too much technical terrain to break up your pace, so you can really push it (not that i ever have...and i still always fall).

your training seems to be more focused on the trails now -- is that just for something different or are you preparing specifically for a trail race? you've probably already been asked this but i'm out of the loop. :)

For sure Allie. Mueller is perfect for this type of workout.

Don't worry, no one has asked me actually...at least on the blog. I am specifically training for a trail race in September. Consequently, the transition came at a good time for me physically and mentally. My left leg didn't love the road after Ogden and I was feeling some burnout.

Are you training for anything specific?

i think that's a good call to seek out a new challenge/focus for a bit -- your buildup for ogden was fantastic, but no doubt it was also quite taxing. good luck with the trail training -- enjoy those mtns!

my racing schedule is still coming together. tentatively, i'm planning on a half marathon in the fall -- like, a serious one (whatever that means). in the meantime, i'll probably jump in some late summer 5ks, and i'm running a 10k next weekend (peachtree sweat fest).

James, Are you referring to that short little September race called the Wasatch 100?

Fritz, perhaps that's the one!
