20 - 7:07

Met Jen at the parkway at 33rd and ran south. 10 out and 10 back. Goal was to keep a steady pace and average in the low 7s by the end. A good moderate pace was what we were looking for and we got it. Took a power gel at 10 and a sip of water and gatorade at 12.

Another solid week down. I am feeling in a good position going into Ogden. Hope to keep the momentum.

You are looking strong and killing it. Sorry I was lazy and slept in this morning.

Thanks John. Just trying to be as strong as you. No worries on sleeping in. It is necessary on occasion.

I think last week proved you are much stronger.

Nah, we all have days like that. You were running on little sleep.

Nice job James. Clicking off those 20s has been routine. How many do you plan to run in this build up?

From james (runmehappy) on Sun, Mar 01, 2015 at 09:33:38 from 75.169.92.99

Thanks Fritz. I have felt a good benefit from the 20s. I don't know for sure on how many more this cycle. 8 more Saturdays before my taper into Ogden. What would you suggest?

From Fritz on Sun, Mar 01, 2015 at 12:05:14 from 71.35.215.168

That's a tough question and I think it depends on lots of variables, i.e. what you are doing the rest of the week, how fast you are running these 20s, race/family conflicts, etc. I wouldn't recommend a 20 every weekend but considering you aren't running super high miles during the week I could see why 4 to 6 more could be helpful. I would recommend mixing in 6, 8 and then 10 miles at MP in the 20s closer to the race. A key workout for me, that seems to have worked, is racing a half two or three weeks before a marathon and then adding 7 after the race. It's good to get used to running on tired legs. My schedule this year will be Boston on April 20, Provo City Half May 2, 5K race May 9 then Ogden on May 16. Ideally Ogden would come two weeks later but that's outside my control.

Thanks Fritz. Let's talk more about this on a run this week. I want to start tossing in some tempos but need to find the best way and best day to do it. I really want to be setup well for Ogden so I am open to any suggestions. I am considering the Salt Lake half but have not decided for sure.
